A Beautiful Sight | As planned, fans create Polish flag mosaic during New Year's Day at Poland show...

You may recall that Darek sent us a picture with a fan holding up a sign that said, "Why Not In Poland?" and asked that any U2 fans attending the Katowice show at Slaski Stadium to hold up something white if in the grandstands and something red if in the field. The idea was that during 'New Year's Day', a song with Polish ties*, the stadium would represent a Polish flag when everyone held up their individual colored pieces. As you can see from the image above, it worked exactly as planned.

Nice job, Darek, it looks like it was quite a sight!
*The lyrics to U2's 'New Year's Day' refer to the movement for solidarity lead by Lech Walesa in Poland. After the song was recorded, Poland announced it would abolish martial law, coincidentally, on New Year's Day, 1983.
