U2 is nominated in five categories for this year's MTV Video Music Awards being held tonight in Miami.

The categories in which the are nominated are:

• Best group video
• Breakthrough video
• Best direction in a video (artist, director)
• Best special effects in a video (artist, special effects company)
• Best cinematography in a video (artist and cinematographer)
